The weekend has just seen the Honiton SAC all night competition, the weather being awful but the fishing not turning out too bad in the end.

Fish caught included Dogfish, Bull Huss, Mackerel, Black Bream, Mullet, Pouting, Smoothounds, Silver eel, Gurnard and Bass.

More than 20 members fished as far as the South Hams in the west, up to Weymouth in the east and, when the scales closed at 10am on Sunday morning, most anglers were glad to change into dry clothes and get some breakfast at the Clover Leaf cafe!

Red Gurnards took first and second place in the pool. Micky Kane took the first place with a fish of 15oz and Terry Hartnell just behind with one of 14.5oz. Third spot went to Mike Spiller with Grey Mullet of 3-10-0.

The club this year has kindly been strongly sponsored by Neil Loomes of Otter Country Sports, Black Lion Court, Honiton.

For this event Neil had kindly put three £20 tackle vouchers up for grabs plus a kilo spool of Sukuma line.

These vouchers went to specific fish which were decided by Neil and were for Best Bass, Best Bream, Best Dogfish and best Smoothound.

Best Bass went to Stuart Crawford with a fish of just under 7lb. Best Bream went to Paul Rouse with a Black Bream of 1-1-8. Best Smoothound went to Paul Rouse with a fish of 6-1-0 (this fish was weighed on the beach and returned). Best Dogfish went to Lee Fearnley with a fish just under 2lb.

The picture shows the winners of the Otters Country Sports angling competition vouchers.
