The wait is over, Ben Moon’s testimonial year is here at last. All events are spread over two months beginning with Ben’s summer ball at Deer Park and ending with a star-studded testimonial match and after match party at Sandy Park.
Ben’s testimonial year began in September 2019 and unfortunately was postponed due to lockdown.
Now it is back after lockdown ends; the Exeter Chiefs and England player has chosen to raise money for two fantastic and worthwhile causes; The Beacon Centre at Musgrove Hospital and the Exeter Chiefs Foundation.
All rugby fans will celebrate the return of live rugby at Sandy Park with Ben Moon’s testimonial game on Saturday, September 4 at Sandy Park. Ben’s Westcountry Warriors will play Stuart Hogg’s Legionnaires. There will be a star-studded field with Sara Cox, the first professional female rugby referee, in charge of the game.
Match-day tickets are on sale via the Exeter Chiefs website ticket hub.
The match will be a true ‘I was there’ rugby event along with some big names from the rugby world, as well as true icons of the Exeter Chiefs.
Ben’s testimonial year gathers pace from now to early September with a whole series of events planned, such as a T20 cricket game, Exeter Chiefs verses Exeter City; 5K fun run along Exeter Quayside, the ‘Dreams and Desires fashion show’ at John Lewis, an evening at Steeno’s ‘Stand Off’ bar, the bake off and finally it will all come to a climax at the testimonial match and after-match party. All in all an exciting series of events.
Ben Moon said: “I have been so lucky to be granted a testimonial year. It makes me feel a few inches taller. To be playing for the Chiefs makes me stand a little straighter. To have represented my country and wear the red rose of England makes my chest burst.
“But to do all of this in the last few years with my wife, family, friends and the backing of everyone in Devon and beyond is a feeling like no other.”
