Chard RFC minis and juniors entertained teams from Bridgwater and Albion on Sunday for lots of rugby in the sunshine, writes Gavin Smillie.

This weekend also saw the end of an era at the club as Kerri and Jason Gardener cooked their last match food, as they are set to retire after volunteering in the role for five years, allowing them time next season to watch their son play.

The club is extremely grateful because during this time not only have they fed and watered the children and parents but they have also raised thousands of pounds for the club.

The club are looking for someone – or a small group – to take on this role from September next season, opening the kitchen on Sunday mornings when the teams are home.

Anyone who could donate some time would be more than welcome and is encouraged to contact Gavin Watts on 07815 805518.
