An under strength, Seconds had the dubious pleasure of entertaining a bolstered Exeter Saracens’ side and, once again the home side were a little disappointed to note that the visitors had several ‘first teamers’ playing amongst their number because they did not have a game this weekend, which is always frustrating for clubs second teams. Predictably, the visitors built up a comfortable lead in the first period and they scored several tries to turn round 22 points to the good.

Things got worse as fly half McGrath had to leave the field with a leg injury but, despite this, Honiton did stand up to the plate and had several good passages of play.

Jason Hannay and Ben Webber worked hard but cheer of the day went to Matt Olive, who delivered a bone shuddering tackle on one of their larger strike runners.

Sarries did add three more scores and won the encounter by 33-0.

Honiton did, however, stick to the task well and, given the odds, things were not as bad as the score line would suggested.
