Wiveliscombe 15, Honiton 42

Honiton Colts were deserved victory in their opening game of the new season, writes Paz Parratt.

The Lacemen made a bright start and the opening score arrived when a desperate kick from the hosts to attempt to relieve the pressure was charged down by Johny House who went on to score. Almost immediately, more pressure ended with Jordon Roe Lavery going over for the second try. Harry Wright slotted the conversions for both tries.

The Somerset side struck next with a breakaway try, but a third try was quickly notched by Honiton with Richey Webber the scorer and Wright again added the extra’s. House finished what he started in the first half with another Honiton try, sending his side in with a 28-15 lead.

After the break Honiton continued to dominate and Richey Webber had the final say with the last try of the game seeing Honiton to a richly deserved opening day success.

Usamah Elmaghedy was named the Honiton Man of the Match.
