Honiton Hawks impress in double success against Withycombe

Honiton Hawks Under-10s played at home for the first time this season when they entertained Withycombe.

The Hawks had a squad of 11 players - Archie Trott, Arran Hansford, Byron Chalmers, Charlie Wheeler, Harry Evans, Harry Haysom, Liam Webber, Logan Symons, Miles Salter, Taylor Prettejohn and Will Parris.

As Withycombe had a squad of 16, two 8-a-side games with rolling substitutions were played.

The games were played in persistent rain, which made ball handling difficult and conditions underfoot slippery.

However, both teams adapted very well and there were very few handling errors given the circumstances. The Hawks won a closely fought first game by two tries to one and followed this up with a 4-1 win over the other Withycombe team. The Best Effort of the Day award went to Harry Evans for a fine performance, which included an excellent try saving tackle on a Withycombe player who looked odds on to score. He also grabbed a couple of tries for himself as well.
