Honiton Hawks played host to the Devon Under-9s Rugby Festival on Sunday with 34 teams from the length and breadth of Devon taking part.

The day was a massive success for the club with credit and thanks due to all those involved in the organisation prior to and during the day.

The fine warm weather helped to make for a great atmosphere around the club. The hosting Hawks had a squad of 13 players in action: Archie Trott, Arran Hansford, Byron Chalmers, Elliot Arscott, Evan Lowman, Harry Haysom, Kyle Moore, Liam Webber, Logan Symons, Mason Peek, Miles Salter, Taylor Prettejohn and Will Parris. In all, the Hawks played four games of 13 minutes each against their counterparts in their pool from Tavistock, Tiverton, Plymstock Albion Oaks and Newton Abbot.

The boys put in a great effort in each of their games, which resulted in them winning four and losing just the one.

The Hawks’ ‘Best Effort’ award went to Archie Trott, who played consistently well throughout the day including making two fantastic try-saving tackles.
