Honiton Titans Under-10s storm back to winning ways

Honiton Titans Under-10s shrugged off the previous week’s jaded performance by returning to their usual remarkable standard of play when they visited Wellington.

A squad of 14 travelled, and were raring to go in their opening game, but fell behind when the hosts scored early. This only served to rally the Titans as they turned on the class and, led by captain Archie Hawkins, claimed a comprehensive 40-5 win.

Man of the Match, Isaac Lidster, was rewarded for some powerful, decisive and precise play with a hat-trick of tries while James Goodman and Jonny Glover each crossed twice and Jack Bevan also scored.

The second match started with a completely new set of players, several who were playing in positions they’d never played before. Effort and skill shone throughout with another solid display from the visitors as they recorded a 15-5 win, Lidster, Glover and Bevan claiming the five-pointers.

Matthew Jeacock, playing for the first time at number 10, turned in an exceptional controlled display.

Coach Simon Lancaster said: “I couldn’t be prouder. We were solid in defence and attack against a strong and organised Wellington outfit. All the players are developing so well.”
