Honiton 60, Sidmouth 45
Honiton Under-10s bounced back in style against neighbours Sidmouth to record a victory with some excellent expansive rugby over their more forward orientated hosts, writes Ben Lee.
The sunny conditions and firmer ground favoured Honiton and it was one of their paceman Tim Goody who set the tone early with a couple of mazy runs that bamboozled many of his school mates in the Sidmouth side and enabled him build an early lead which Honiton never looked like loosing. Joe Evans got in on the act to with some great scores out wide and this was enough to hold out a late Sidmouth comeback when their superior numbers allowed fresher legs to finally breach a tired Honiton defence. Despite this Honiton stood firm with Tim Goody grabbing four tries while Edward Bakewell and Luke Matthews each got.
However, it was Man of the Match Joe Evans who topped the charts with six tries while also putting in some monumental last ditch tackles to thwart the home side.
