Honiton Under-11s prove too Goody for hosts Chard

Honiton Under-11s powered to a 45-35 success when they travelled to Chard.

The Lacelads faced a home team struggling with numbers on the day and so fielded a mixed team of under-11s and under-12s.

Despite the difference in size Honiton fronted up magnificently with Osian Owen setting the tone early on with an outrageous dummy and turn of pace to run in from distance.

This early lead was something the Lacelads refused to surrender with some brilliant work at the ruck and maul from Owen and Isaac Stanbury thwarting many a Chard attack. Further scores were added by Joe Evans who grabbed two and Edward Grimshaw got the try he deserved for an excellent all round performance. However, it was Tim Goody who topped the scoring charts with five superb tries and he deservedly took the Man of the Match award.

Once again it was a great team performance against a far bigger team, with Joseph Hynam far more prominent in attack and James Harris producing some excellent running lines in what was an extremely physical contest.
