Honiton Under-15s made the long trip to South Molton on Sunday for their first game of the new season.

The return journey was a happy one after the team had secured a 35-24 success.

What made the victory all the more pleasing was that the young Lacemen had fallen behind to a couple of early tries.

However, once they found their feet in the game Honiton fought back and played some excellent rugby which helped them score three first tries of their own with Harry Todd bagging a brace and Owen Roe scoring the other.

After the break the slick play continued for Honiton and further tries arrived from Mason De Sousa, Joseph Gibbbs, Dom Sositha and a debut try from Scott Retter.

Team manager Debbie Phillips said: “Clearly there remains a lot of work to do in all areas. However, there are plenty of positives to take from the game and this represents a good and encouraging start to the new season.”
