Archant

Crisp and sunny weather welcomed the Honiton U8 squad to Chard Rugby Club for their latest outing, writes Nick Cunningham.

Coach Tom Hattan soon had the team warmed up and impatient for kick off.

Honiton started well with Riley Prettlejohn and ‘Mr Nippy’ Tom Page-Turner running in tries to put points onto the board.

Play swung Chard’s way with skilful, speedy players, side-stepping Honiton’s finest taggers to cross the line for some tasty touchdowns.

Honiton fought back in the second half, making ground, passing well and reaping the rewards.

At the end of the day we’d lost count of the tries, and it was judged to have been a draw.

An exciting and entertaining game for both players and spectators, followed by hotdogs kindly served up by our hosts in the Chard Rugby Club bar.
