Honiton Under-9 maiden tries for Rowland and Manvell

Honiton Under-9s met Topsham in their latest round of matches.

It proved to be a special morning for both Charlie Rowland and Sam Manvell who scored maiden tries for the team.

In the first of five games Honiton edged the Tops out by the odd try in eleven with Josias Drew taking the individual honours with a four-try haul!

Tom Phillips and that first Honiton try from young Rowland rounded up the teams scoring.

Game two saw the Tips win 4-2. Here the Honiton scores were Hadge and Drew.

Game three saw the side’s share eight scores with Olly Morris (2), Jake Carter and Ewan Powers-Maguire, the Honiton scorers.

The next game saw Honiton edged out by the odd score in eleven!

Morris bagged another brace and there were also tries from Robert Hennessy, Ewan Powers-Maguire that afore mentioned first Honiton try for young Manvell.

The final game saw Topsham win 6-2 with the Honiton tries scored by Power-Maguire and -Tom Phillips.

Coach ‘Tricky’ Terry said: “I was impressed with how the boys showed they are now really bonding as a team. The passing is good and there are plenty of players being less selfish with possession. There were some great tackles, bringing down a fast opposition. All in all it was a good morning’s work from the players.”
