The final Sunday of July saw ten parents and coaches from a number of the Honiton RFC Junior sides complete a major fund raising initiative.

Parents and coaches from the under-8’s, 10’s, 11’s and 12’s took part in a mini triathlon to raise money for their respective age groups for training and match equipment.

The day started bright and early with an 800m swim in an outdoor pool at located in the heart of Exeter at 8 o’clock in the morning.

This was followed swiftly by a 15-mile bike ride out of the city and along the picturesque old A30 terminating at the Iron Bridge near Honiton.

From there they ran onwards into to town proceeding up the high street and finishing at the Rugby Club where the bar was as open as the arms of friends and family to welcome the participants as they completed their arduous journey in extremely clement conditions!

Further refuelling was provided by way of a barbecue and the total raised by their combined efforts was just over £800.

Hearty congratulations to all those who took part, and those intrepid athletes who did the event would, like to say a sincere thank you for the support provided by friends and family
