Honiton Petanque completed their 2021 Devon League campaign with a good 3-1 away win at Wellington.
The victory against the improving Somerset side, combined with results elsewhere, meant they confirmed the runners-up spot for the second season in succession.
Chris Bigmore got the team off to a flying start with a 13-2 win in the Singles game. The Triples team of Ron Hutchinson, Jenny Lavender and Charlie O'Reilly then followed up by overcoming their counterparts by the same score.
In the Doubles round, Bigmore and O'Reilly went down 13-10 in a tight tussle to put the match in the balance, but the Hutchinson and Lavender pairing saw the match home by winning their game 13-7.
Honiton finished second once again to neighbours Ottery St Mary in the league. Highlight of the season was probably their first ever win over the Otters with a strong home performance against the champions.
