Joy for Seaton Cricket Club’s 2nd XI was matched by despair for their Honiton hosts on the weekend.
It was a massive game for both clubs, who are fighting hard to pull away from the bottom places in F Division East of the Devon Cricket League.
After Seaton opted to bowl first, the Honiton top order generally toiled, apart from Kevin Kelly, who scored a fine 72 to at least set some sort of total for his side to defend.
Honiton finished on 139 all out, with Terry Welsh taking an impressive 4-18.
Seaton then resisted some fiery bowling from their hosts, with Tim Doulton, Tom Brown and John Oldfield all doing sterling jobs in the middle.
Despite a run out for Doulton, Dave Turner completed the job for Seaton, who won by five wickets to move into sixth position, while Honiton head into this weekend second from bottom.
