East Devon will be represented by both Seaton and Upottery in this Sunday’s (August 26) Corinthian Cup Finals Day being held at the Instow home of North Devon CC.

The other two finalists are Cullompton and Barton, who both, like Seaton, play their Tolchards Devon League cricket in the B Division, while Upottery will journey north very much as the ‘underdogs’ given their D Division East status – two levels below the this tier of league cricket in the county.

The first of the day’s two semi-finals has a 10am start and it will see Upottery taking on Cullompton. Seaton and Barton will meet in the second semi-final (around 2pm) with the two winning sides meeting in the final later on the day.

Seaton skipper Ben Morgan is looking forward to the challenge, but does wonder why the Finals Day is being played where it is, given the four teams that are taking part.

Morgan says: “It is rather strange that we have two sides from East Devon [Seaton and Upottery], one from Mid Devon [Cullompton] and one from South Devon [Barton] all travelling up to North Devon. Surely it would have made more sense for the finals to be played at a ground nearer to the four competing clubs!”
