Seaton B secure promotion in men’s Over-60s League

The Seaton ladies’ Over-50s Triples League Red team travelled to Morchard Bishop, where they won one triple, but lost the other, writes Alan Nicholas.
However, Seaton took the match by the smallest of margins – a single shot – winning 25-24! The top triple was the one of Margaret Nicholas, Ruby Grigg and Lin Allison, who won their encounter 15-9.
Also on this day, a friendly match was played away in Exmouth against Phear Park. This was a four triples game which resulted in each club taking two triples.
However, the match was decided on total shots scored with the visitors scoring 70 shots to the home team’s 56.
The top triple for Seaton in this otherwise tight match was Chris Anton, Esdre Keller and Don Yaxley, with a score of 20 shots to 9.
The Seaton men’s Over-60s Triples League teams were also in action. The A team entertained Crediton A and they secured a very good result with one of the triples drawn and the other won. This all led to an overall Seaton win of 35-30 and the seven points they banked from the match means that the team will line up in the same division next season.
The top triple for Seaton was the one of Dennis Ridd, Don Yaxley and Roger Woolland.
The B team were also at home for their final match, taking on third placed Exonia B.
They served up a fine all-round performance to win the contest 48-30 and bank all eight points, a result that ensured the team secured promotion to Division Two.
The top Seaton triple was the one of Ed Backhouse, Bob Scull and Dave Yardley, with an excellent score of 26-16.
The ladies’ Over-50s Triple League Blue team played their final match of the season away at Ottery St Mary where they won on both triples and took the overall match honours to the tune of a 52-28 score line. The six points their efforts got them means that the Blue team finish third in the league. The top Seaton triple was the one of Esdre Keller, Carol Armitage and Di Morley, scoring 28 shots to 13.
Last, but not least in terms of the league action, there was also a good win in the East of Exe Mixed League against Chardstock, and that fixture completed another campaign for this Seaton team.
