Seaton bowlers bag sixth successive promotion

Seaton bowlers had plenty to celebrate in the past week, writes Maria Johnson.

Top billing must go to the men’s Over-60s Triples League A team who clinched promotion to the top division after a 37-25 victory over Sidmouth B. The full eight points were banked and the best Seaton rink was the one of P Newton, R Rowley and L Tooze. The team’s success completes a remarkable run as they have now gained promotion in six successive years having started the run as a Division Seven side in 2010!

In other action a Two Counties League match against Cullompton produced a convincing Seaton win at 112-66 and the top was the one of A Mayhew, R Grigg, T Hurley-Smith and L Tooze.

The Two County League (TCL) team met Hemyock and in this match the top Seaton rink was the one of L Hurley-Smith, T Hurley-Smith, RRowley and R Woolland.

In a friendly fixture at Topsham Seaton were 79-69 winners with the top rink being the one of E Backhouse, M Swallow, P Whitworth and T Hurley-Smith.

Last, but certainly not lest, follwong three defeats, Seaton Over 60’s B team bounced back with an eight points win away against Exonia C with the top rink comprising of M Clarke, B Scull and D Yardley.
