The first week of the outdoor bowling season started well for Seaton Bowling Club, writes Alan Nicholas.
It all began with a mixed friendly match away at Lyme Regis where, in a contest played over six rinks, Seaton won on all of them!
Seaton’s top rink was Ed Backhouse, Bob Scull, Sue Banwell-Moore and Phil Crichard, who won their rink with 49 shots against 9.
The total shots score for the match was 164 against 61. Needless to say, Seaton thoroughly enjoyed this opening match! The final Saturday of April saw another friendly match, this time at home to Ottery St. Mary. This match was again a mixed game, played on five rinks, and Seaton again took all the rinks. The top Seaton rink was the one of Maria Johnson, Peter Barradell, Linda Stone and Roger Woolland, scoring 30 shots against six. The total shots score for this match being 150 against 59. All in all, a great start to the new season.
