Last Tuesday morning saw two triple teams from our Seaton Bowls Club play one another in the Section 3 final of the Devon benevolent triples competition.
The victors were the triples of Chris Barradell, Lilian Hurley-Smith and Pat Whitworth, who now go on to play Okehampton in the quarter finals at Seaton next Sunday.
Seaton ladies’ rinks of Liz Wilde, Ruby Grigg, Maria Johnson, Marian Vessey and Angie Mayhew, Lilian Hurley-Smith, Linda Stone and Pat Whitworth also got through to the next round of the Devon Inter Club Competition and will play Torquay A at Crediton on 20th September.
Seaton also had a good win in the East of Exe league, winning with an overall score of 85 shots to 59 against Honiton. Top rink being Heather Hudson, Carol Armitage, Lilian Hurley-Smith and Mike McAlpine.
The ladies blue LOFTL team also had a good win at Honiton on Wednesday, winning on both rinks with an overall score of 43 - 29.
The men’s over sixties B team were in action, playing Belmont at home. Seaton won overall with the top rink being Mike Clarke, Mike McAlpine and Ed Backhouse.
It has been a busy week for Seaton culminating in a friendly match at home against Honiton. Honiton were the victors on this occasion but everyone agreed it was an enjoyable afternoon.
