Seaton edge out visiting Carshalton Beeches in thrilling match

The week began with a visiting side from Carshalton Beeches, writes Linda Stone.

An extremely close fought game with Seaton winning by just seven shots, 117-110. Two rinks shared the top spot; Lilian Hurley-Smith, Brian Perriam, Terry Hurley-Smith and George Mabon on one rink and Sylvie Warrick, Keith Richards, Angie Mayhew and Dave Yardley on the other, both winning by 15 shots.

The next game of the week was against Tiverton West End which Seaton lost 78-90. The top Seaton rink was that of Ian Manchester, John Davies, Doug Hislop and Pat Whitworth.

Seaton A were confirmed as champions of Division Four in the Over-60s Triples League before their match at home to Topsham C and celebrated their success with an 18 shot victory (45-27).

The top triple was Peter Newton, Ron Rowley and Les Tooze who won by 17 shots.

The final game of the week was a home game against Taunton which Seaton won emphatically at 100-53.

The top rink was Bob Venn, Margaret Nicholas, Pat Whitworth and Roger Woolland who won 34-8.
