The Seaton bowlers’ week began with an away game at Tiverton West End, writes Maria Johnson.

It was not the best of days for the team as they went down to a narrow nine shot defeat, 85-76 with the top Seaton rink being the one of N Stone, E Keller, H Smith and D Yaxley.

There was also a single short defeat suffered by the Over-60s men’s B team in a meeting with Honiton. The top Seaton rink comprised Ed Backhouse, Jeremy Allison and Terry Hurley-Smith.

A similar loss was incurred by the ladies’ Over-50s League Blue team when they went down by a single shot on both rinks, losing 16-15!

However, it was all very different when the ladies took a formidable team from Paignton. The contest was played on a neutral green – in this case Madeira of Exmouth – and Seaton were victorious by one shot at 39-38.

The top rink was the one of Ruby Grigg, Linda Stone, Angie Mayhew and Joan Miles.

Seaton have made it through to the last eight of the Interclub Competition and the ladies’ Over-50s Blue team were beaten by two shots (32-20), in a match hit by the weather at Honiton. The top Seaton rink comprised of Linda Stone, Pat Whitworth (C), Di Morley.

Last, but not least, a Sunday visit from a Gloucester-based touring team. Everyone involved enjoyed a fine afternoon that saw Seaton win 147-112 with the top home rink the one of Liz Wilde, Dave Millard, John Vieth and Ron Rowley.
