Seaton ladies enjoy rare triumph over the men to land the Price Cup

The Seaton week began with a friendly game at Phear Park in Exmouth, writes Linda Stone.

Seaton lost by shots with the top triple being that of H Hillier, R Pluck and J Miles who won 21-7.

In an Over-60s Triples match played on Wednesday Seaton A beat Exonia C by 13 shots (40 – 27).

The top triple was that of David Ford, Roy Carnell and Roger Woolland.

With the glorious weather continuing Friday saw the staging of a needle match as the Seaton ladies challenged the Seaton men in a four rinks competition for The Price Cup.

For the first time for several years the ladies triumphed winning on three out of the four rinks and also overall by 73-71 shots.

The top ladies rink was that of Angie Mayhew, Margaret Nicholas, Lin Allison and Barbara Thompson.

The top rink for the men was the one comprising of Norman Stone, Richard Whitworth, Terry Hurley-Smith and Ron Rowley.

Last, but not least, on Sunday the South Dorset BA tour party visited Seaton.

On a blazing hot afternoon there was a wonderful afternoon of bowls.

Seaton’s top rink was Bob Venn, Lin Allison, Norman Stone and Angie Mayhew.
