Seaton were in friendly action for a Saturday visit to Bradninch where the four rink score was two-two, writes Alan Nicholas.

It was the home team who took the match honours though with a shots tally of 76 to the 68 that Seaton scored.

Seatons top rink was Peter Barradell, Margaret Nicholas, Peter Greenwood and Ron Rowley.

The first round of the Seaton Club Championship for both ladies and gents, was contested. Thirty-two players produced great entertainment for the spectators. In terms of making progress; in the ladies competition Linda Stone, Maria Johnson, Di Morley, Barbara Sluman, Sue Banwell-Moore, Sue Dando, Angie Mayhew and Maureen Woolf, all made progress.

In the men’s competition Peter Barradell, Richard Whitworth, Dave Yardley, Dennis Ridd, Don Yaxley, Jeremy Allison, Peter Grigg and Ken Shean, all made progress.

A wet Tuesday saw Seaton men travel to Sidmouth to contest a National Top Club first round match.

It proved a good day for the Seaton team as they won three of the four disciplines to make it through to the next round.

The top Seaton rink was the one of Ed Backhouse and Richard Whitworth in the pairs.

Last Thursday, Seaton ladies were in Over-50s Triples League action. Seaton Reds entertained Okehampton in a match that saw one rink drawn at 23-all and one lost to a score of 17-16.

On the same day a friendly was played at Phear Park in Exmouth, but the contest was rained off after 12 ends with Seaton up on all four rinks.

When the rains arrived Seaton led 53-31 and, up to that point, the best Seaton rink had been the one of Angie Mayhew, Reg Pluck and Les Tooze with 17 shots to eight.
