Seaton pairings takes second and third spot in the Madeira ladies Open Pairs competition.

Seaton ladies travelled to Taunton Bowls Cub to play a friendly match, writes Linda Stone.

The venue was the beautiful surrounding of Vivary Park, on a lovely late summer afternoon where Seaton won on three rinks and drew on the fourth.

The match against Tiverton scheduled for Friday was cancelled due to rain, but fortunately it cleared fir the following day and the staging of the Club minor finals day.

The winner of the Harman Trophy was Lilian Hurley-Smith and the George Fosset was won by Norman Stone.

The Iris Amyes was won by Ann Joiner and Maria Johnson while the men’s pairs game - the Ray Jefferies Trophy was won by Ian Manchester and Jeremy Allison. The final competition of the day was the Presidents Cup which was won by David Ford. Congratulations to all who took part.

The Madeira Club in Exmouth held their Ladies Open Pairs Tournament on Sunday. Forty-eight pairs of bowlers played and, after an extremely enjoyable day, two Seaton pairs claimed two of the top three berths with Pat Whitworth and Ann Joiner third whilst Linda Stone and Marian Vessey came second.
