Seaton played their Two Counties fixture with Ottery St Mary and gained a marvellous victory, writes Linda Stone.

In an overall victory of 20 shots at 82-62 the top Seaton rink was that of Angie Mayhew, Ray Thompson, Dave Yardley and Ray McDonald.

The last Saturday of June saw the staging of the Heard Triples competition and Seaton’s Ray McDonald, Chris McDonald and Les Tooze won while Maria Johnson, Angie Mayhew and Sue Rutter came third.

The first day of July saw a friendly fixture with visiting Tiverton Bowling Club at Seaton that saw the hosts win by five shots with the top triple being Bob Venn, Bob Scull and Pat Whitworth.

The ladies played two Over-50s matches this week beating Pinces Gardens by just seven shots.

The top performing triple was the one of Maria Johnson, Linda Stone and Joan Miles.

The team then defeated Ottery St Mary by a whopping 40 shots with both Seaton triples winning by 20 shots each!

In an Over-60s Triples game last Wednesday Seaton A won a tense battle against Bradninch B at Bradninch by three shots at 31-18.

The top triple was Peter Newton, Ron Rowley and Les Tooze. At the half way point of the season, Seaton A are top of Division 4 and remain unbeaten for the season.

The B team had a convincing home win beating the promotion contenders Chagford 36-21. The top triple was Jeremy Allison, Richard Whitworth and Terry Hurley-Smith.

The final event of the week was an away game in Weston-Super-Mare. In glorious summer sunshine we played at Clarence Park being beaten by just 16 shots. Seaton’s top rink was Norman Stone, Bob Rutter, Linda Stone and Phil Crichard winning 25-17.
