Seaton Tennis Club have just completed a most successful summer season in league competition, writes Belinda Bawden.

The ladies C team finished champions of Division Six in the Exeter and District League in only their second season and the mixed C team were runners-up in Division Five of the East Devon League.

Captains Teri Murphy and Martin White have encouraged new and less experienced club members to join their teams and benefit from the fun of competing against other clubs in the local leagues with great enthusiasm and success.

The ladies A team finished second in Division One of the Exeter and District League after a flurry of fixtures in September. The team was the only one to beat league champions Torquay and finished eight points above the third-placed club Victoria Park.

The ladies A and B teams have started their Winter League campaigns in Division One and Two respectively, both having been champions of their divisions for the past two years.

Junior activities continue at Seaton Tennis club all levels with some talented teenagers competing and winning events in the club’s annual tournament and representing the club in league matches. At the younger end, Tot and Mini Tennis coaching sessions run every week.

Next week, the half-term junior tennis camps are being held at the club on Tuesday (October 27) from 2pm to 4pm, on Thursday 10.30am to 12.30pm and finally on Saturday from 10am to 12pm.
