Volunteers from the club helped facilities officer, Brian Rodgers, and the contractors First Serve complete the work earlier than expected.

The juniors will be celebrating the end of term with a tournament on Easter Saturday (March 26) followed by a club lunch for all members, after which the adults will play on the new courts.

The junior holiday tennis camps will be running over the Easter holidays on:

Tuesday, March 29 and Tuesday, April 5 from 1pm to 3pm; on Thursday, March 31 and Thursday, April 7 from 10.30am to 12.30pm and also on Saturday April 2 and Saturday April 9 from 10am to noon.

To encourage more children and families to play tennis, fees for children under 16 have been reduced. It is now free for the Under 5s and children of adult members join with a 50 per cent discount. In addition, students’ rates have been reduced by 40 per cent to attract more of our ex-juniors to return and play during their university vacations.

The Spring coaching programme will start after the Easter holidays with the return of the adult beginners’ session combining coaching with Cardio Tennis on Saturday mornings from 11.30am to 12.30pm. Adult Pay and Play sessions continue for beginners to intermediates on Tuesdays from 11am to 1pm and intermediates and above on Fridays from 1pm to 3pm.

Junior coaching starts from three years old with Toddler and Parent classes and runs on Saturday mornings and Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday evenings.

Seaton Tennis club runs more club sessions for its members than any other tennis club locally – five mid-week and two weekend mixed club sessions run every week all year round.

What’s more there are seven teams playing in the local leagues with both ladies C and the mixed C teams having gained promotion last summer.

The club also has an active social scene with lunches, quiz nights, themed tournaments with barbecues and tennis weekends and holidays.

The club will be open to visitors as part of the LTA’s Great British Tennis Weekend on Saturday, May 14 from 10am to 4pm. Members and visitors alike can enjoy free coaching, Cardio Tennis and open play. Over 200 people enjoyed the two Open Days in 2015.
