Seaton Tennis men’s A team has reached historic new heights.

Following a successful 2013 summer season finishing second in Exeter League Division Two the captained by Simon Prior and including Kevin Davis, Geoff Copp and Ian Broughton have taken the team into the top division, a feat never before achieved in the club’s history.

Andy Butcher (50), club chairman, said : Simon (Prior) has been an inspirational captain over the last four seasons, leading the team to three promotions in four seasons during their meteoric rise from Division Four to Division One.”

However, veterans Simon Prior and Geoff Copp have both now decided to retire to the B team. Den Rose (66), well respected former club captain said: “Whoever takes on the captaincy will have a tough act to follow in the pressure cauldron of Division One.”

Captain Prior added: “I am confident that the youngsters like Kevin (Davis) and Ben Elliott, Jordan Raine and Martyn Hancock, who all played a few times for us this season, can take the team forward. Ian will add some continuity and

newcomer Peter Moroz will comfortably make the step up from the B team. I wish them all good luck.”
