Seaton Tennis Club’s Emma Hurst has recently earned a WTA Singles and Doubles World ranking after a successful few weeks on the ITF tour on grass at Eastbourne, and Surbiton Aegon International Tournaments, writes Belinda Bawden.

Hurst, first year student at Bath University said: “ After so much hard work and training, I am really happy to have achieved this personal goal of mine at Bath this year. I hope to be able to improve my world ranking during the next year.”

In between a busy tournament schedule, Hurst has managed to find time to return to the club, playing for the club’s A teams, supporting younger talent, and hitting with enthusiastic members.

Emma’s power and skills helped the Ladies A team to a victory against the unbeaten league leaders Torquay A and the victory lifts the team into fifth spot in Division One of the Exeter and District League.

Whilst the club’s B teams have struggled with injuries this summer, the rising stars at Seaton are the Ladies C team, which went top of Division Six after an 8-1 victory against Teign Valley B, and the Mixed C team, which is unbeaten at the top of its division in the East Devon League.

Seaton Tennis Club hosted two Great British Tennis Weekends recently, welcoming close to 200 players who joined in junior coached sessions, adult cardio tennis or open play.
