On Monday Seaton entertained three triples from Honiton and won comfortably, writes Linda Stone.

The top rink was Audrey White, Lilian Hurley-Smith and skip Pat Whitworth. Tuesday saw four rinks make the journey to Starcross.

The home team won easily overall but everyone enjoyed the match and hospitality and novice Bill Lauder played his first game for the club showing a great deal of promise for the future.

On Tuesday evening the men played their next County Trophy match against Honiton. After a close game Honiton just won by three shots with each club winning two games. Seaton’s top rink was Norman Stone, Reg Pluck, Terry Hurley-Smith and Ron Rowley who won 25-14 shots.

On Wednesday both the Seaton A and B teams travelled the 92 mile round trip to North Tawton to play their respective A and B teams in the Over 60s Triples League. Seaton A managed to hold on to their unbeaten record this season, but only just! Going into the last end needing two shots to draw and three shots to win they managed the former, so the match ended in an honourable draw, with both the A teams scoring 28 shots. The top triple was David Ford, Roy Carnell and Alan Wood. Seaton B had better success and won their away match against their Division 5 leaders North Tawton B, returning with an impressive seven point win. Top rink was Richard Whitworth, Bob cull and skip Dave Yardley. Meanwhile the C team travelled to Belmont where they lost 30-38 shots. The top triple was Keith Harris, Malcolm Carvell and George Mabon who won their rink by just one shot 16-15.

Friday’s game was cancelled as Culm Vale could not raise a team and Saturday’s game against Donyatt was cancelled due to inclement weather.
