Seaton Under-9s were beaten in their latest Exeter Youth League outings, going down to West Exe Youth and Alphington.

In both matches Seaton were on level terms at half-time, but in each second half tired legs became evident as the Exeter sides took charge with West Exe winning 6-2 and Alphington 7-1.

Henry Matthew (2) and Aaron Hale netted the Seaton goals. The two goalkeepers on duty deserve mention; Adam Clinch and Kieran Jaycock shared the action and both made a number of fine saves.

Seaton fielded several younger players, with Jericho Hannant and Billy Fowler competing exceptionally well against older opposition. Seaton coach Alan Hale said: “We managed to include 14 players across the two games and it meant using up all my best crayons trying to work out the team sheets! We have a really committed, talented and enthusiastic mix of under 8s and 9s and we try very hard to keep everyone involved on match days. Whatever the score, the one thing that stands out with this group is their collective enjoyment of playing the game.”
