Seaton were six wicket winners when they met Feniton in an East Devon derby.

After losing the toss Seaton skipper Ben Morgan sent this team out to field and saw Feniton get an excellent start as they powered their way to 145-2 with 15 overs remaining. However, the bowlers began to get a measure of things and the flow of the innings slowed considerably with the final total being 193-9.

Morgan used alls even of the front line bowlers at his disposal, each one bowling at least four overs and it was Joel Seward who took the individual honours with four wickets for 38.

The reply was led by Kevin Moran and Ed Hunt, the latter making his first appearance of the season for Seaton and he hit a fine 30. Moran was first to return to the pavilion, out for 13, but that brought Seward to the wicket and he continued his fine form with the bat, scoring 60.

A coupe of wickets fell, one of them Hunt, before skipper Morgan was in with this team 62/3.

Just as in the previous match Morgan and Seward batting together superbly with some slick running between the wickets and picking off the bad balls, as and when they were delivered. The pair added 102 for the fourth wicket.

Seward was eventually out, caught in the deep, but only after calling for a runner owing to a hamstring issue.

That was as good as it got for the Feniton bowlers for Robbie Prior and the skipper saw Seaton to victory with two balls shy of three overs remaining.

Morgan said: “It was a cracking game and underlined, once again, the strength we have in depth at the club now. Joel (Seward) was again exceptional both with ball and bat. However for me the key is all-round strength. We had all seven bowlers, any one of whom could, if need be, bowl a full nine over shift, in our eleven and so I was happy to keep Feniton below 200. Mind you, at 145-2 I thought we’d be chasing a larger total! I really do not believe we have still seen the full potential of the side. However, on the flip side of that we now have a unit I which different people seem to be stepping up the plate each week. It all looks very good right now, but the key has to be maintaining high standards. If we do that we’ll stay with the leading pack.”

On Saturday Seaton travel to Barnstaple and Pilton. The North Devon outfit will start the day fifth, three places and 24 points below them in the C Division East table.
