Seed stars on Saturday at Lyme Regis
Lyme Regis Golf Club has seen plenty of action over the past week, writes Richard Jackman.
In the 3-ball better ball competition on Sunday, Simon Vincent, Wayne Vincent, and Paul Hampton scored an excellent 80 points to just oust Brian True-May, Neal Cullen, and Neil Thomas (79 points) into second place. Hugh Mcguire, Christopher Binding, and Kevin Lacey - 72 points came third.
Also on Sunday vice captain Roger Seed, son George Seed and Adrian Morgan won the Open 3-ball team event on the West course at Saunton Golf Club with 80 points.
The ladies finally played their captain-versus-vice captain fun match, and, with some inspirational play by individuals, the vice’s team won.
Lady captain Lizzie Linnert had knitted snoods for the winners, partly assisted by her vice-captain Rosie Jackman, and these were presented to the winners, but hopefully they won’t now be needed until next Winter!

Saturday saw Lyme’s Hardy A team initially draw a thrilling cup match with Highcliffe Castle after everyone had played. In the play-off George Seed kept his nerve to hit a great second shot to birdie the first extra hole, sinking a 9-foot putt. He played a truly miraculous second shot from a really tough position under a gorse bush.
Meanwhile, the juniors were enjoying the pleasant sun playing a stableford competition. There were three people tied on 36 points so it was on countback that the final order was; 1, Lewis Cottam, 2, Cameron Moss and 3, David Lyon.
