Honiton Golf Club seniors: With the course battered all week by heavy rain, culminating with hail on Thursday, it was a pleasant surprise on Friday to see the sun and have the course open for play, even if a little damp under foot. The format, the ever popular three ball, two to count.

With the damp conditions making the course play extremely long, scoring was always going to be difficult, you had to be on the fairway.

The winning three, Chris Street, Ted Chandler and John Lamb, were up to this challenge with a very creditable 75pts.

Edward Backhouse, Stan Squire and Mike Watts were close behind with 74pts, followed by two teams on 70pts, Bob Cleal, Mike Stroud and Jim Wallis and the Whimple trio John Discombe, Robin Mitchell and Ben Laite. There were seven twos.
