Perfect conditions greeted the 83 golfers who took part in last Saturday’s monthly medal at East Devon, writes Mike Knapman.

With hardly a breath of wind and the greens recovering quickly from the hollow tining many golfers took full advantage and good overall scoring was the order of the day.

In Division One the leader was Brian Sansom with net 68 beating Stephen Morton on countback.

Third place was also decided on countback with four players on 70 and Bruce Chapman got the nod.

In this group was Jim Colvin who produced the best gross score.

In Division Two Mark Coles led the way with 66, closely followed by Graham Slack on 68 and Charlie Stafford on 69 (Charlie recommends dog-walking to keep fit!)

In Division Three the honours went to Trevor Reeve with his 67 followed by Roy Newcombe (69) and Rob Faircloth (70).

There were 11 twos recorded and they all shared £166.Not everybody played to their potential and, when asked by the computer after entering your score, if you would like to take a further action, things like selling clubs on Ebay, jumping off the cliff or joining the Mark Twain Golf Appreciation Society come to mind. Then you remember the par on the 18th!
