The ladies of Honiton had a 10-hole Texas Scramble, shotgun start when over 40 ladies participated. The winning team with a score of 34.6 were Denise Nichols, Joan Smith, Olwen Eaton and Linda Blundell. Second, with 36.2, were Jackie Seager, Barbara Eastwood, Jeanne Mackinnon and Ann Tucker.

The competition was followed by a Christmas Fayre which raised more than £360, with cakes, raffle, books, putting competition and knitwear on sale. Again this year the section raffled a beautiful Christmas cake made and donated, together with a bottle of champagne, by Jenny Raison. The lucky winner this year was Jan Dickinson.

There was a disappointing turn-out for Tuesday's Mixed Fours Competition when a Rye Foursomes format was played under damp, but not unpleasant conditions.

In first place, with an excellent score of 45 points, were Avril and Peter Shepherd. Second, with 37 points, were Sue Ritchie and Paul Witton.
