In the under-13 boys' foil event, Simon fenced well during the poules, earning a seeding of 5th.

In the quarter-final, he faced the number 4 seed, and won the fight with a mixture of good technique and fast footwork.

In a tough semi-final, he was knocked out by the number 1 seed, gaining a well-deserved bronze medal.

Also fencing in his first competition was George Evans (14), who showed great enthusiasm and competitive spirit, coming 8th in the under-15 event.
