AVR athlete Jake Smith travelled to Wiltshire on Sunday to take part in the 9Bar Chilly 10K race around the Castle Coombe circuit, writes Dave Mutter.
In a field of over 500 runners, Smith battled at the front of the race against eventual winner David Bell from Cirencester AC, staying with him until the start of the third and final loop of the circuit.
Smith finished a splendid second over all and first junior runner in 33:20.
His time was almost two minutes faster than the third place finisher.
This represents an excellent effort. Well done, Jake.
