Smith tops Lyme Regis ladies' Division One.

Lyme Regis ladies' held their monthly medal last Thursday and it was very well supported, writes Richard Jackman.

Di Smith, with an excellent score of 73 headed Division One.

Count-back was called into play to determine second and third with Jane Southcombe edging out Jenny Scott after both carded 75.

The Division 2 winner was Susan Moore on 75 with count back again separating Pat Hunt from Angela Clark after both recoded scores of 77.

Saturday’s junior medal saw Michael Watson’s 71 gain first place from Brad Searle and Stuart Wight who were second and third respectively after count back on 72.

The men’s monthly medal on Sunday reflected the tough scoring conditions, but in Division 1 it was Neil Cullen and Brian Collis who both managed a net 69 with Neil taking top spot on count back.

Third place went to Chris Browne on 71. Division 2 was also tight, but Brian Deem saw off the opposition with a net 70 leaving Mark Taylor and Alistair Maclean both on 71 to take the minor places after count back.

Lyme Regis has two important charity events lined up before the end of the month.

On April 20, club member Les Bounds has sponsored a charity evening for Hospiscare and has enticed local group Chain Reaction out of retirement.

There will also be a disco and charity auction hosted by Graham Barton (of Homes Under the Hammer fame) and an appearance by Wacko Jacko and magic from former club member, the Mysterious Wardios.

This fun for all evening is at Lyme Regis Golf Club starting at 8pm with free admission, but donations to the worthy charity.

April 24, sees former club captain Ray Farrell organising the annual charity golf day at Lyme Regis in support of Candles on the Cobb, which this year has the British Heart Foundation as its national charity.

The event is one for teams of three with an individual stableford and team prize.
