A relatively quiet week here at the club was met by very unpredictable weather. Nevertheless, some great golf was still being played out on the course.

Ladies' Vi Trophy:

Bright sunshine greeted the ladies' section on Thursday morning - a great rarity as the weather is normally awful on Thursdays!

The playing conditions enabled some good golf to be played, which resulted in some long-awaited handicap reductions,

The winner of Division 1 was Faye Seed with 37 points, beating her handicap by one and getting cut from 29 to 27. Lesley Jellyman had a disappointing finish having amassed 36 points through 16 and, unfortunately, not scoring on the last two holes, Lesley also managed a two at the tricky par 3 third!

An up and down round from Lesley still saw her handicap cut to 24.

Jenny Betteridge came in third with 35 and Hanna Jacobsen came in fourth. Well done to all the ladies who played, especially Faye and Lesley. Keep up the good work.

Men's Monthly Medal:

Sunday saw a good-sized field turn up for this month's medal competition.

Division 1 was filled with some fantastic scores and saw a lot of handicap movement.

Phil Gisborne topped the pile with a great score of 77, beating his handicap by six shots.

Newly-qualified headteacher Steve Gillian made full use of his summer holiday break by making a welcome return to single figure handicap golf, shooting a steady 76, missing out by a shot but being reduced to nine, very well done!

V Trott lost a shot of his handicap with a round of 81 and finishing off the top three in Division 1.

Division 2 was won by S Bugg with a score of 84 nett 64, seeing his handicap cut to 18. George Yorke is steadily making a name for himself and his fantastic score of 84 has also seen his handicap cut to 18.

Tony Johnstone's game has been transformed these last few months; lots of practice and a new set of Cleveland golf clubs has seen his handicap also get cut to 18.

Well done to everyone who played. Keep up all the hard work.
