Somerset Rebels’ new man Holder in form on home soil

Somerset Rebels’ new signing for the 2018 campaign, Jack Holder, finished fourth in the 2018 Australian Senior Solo Speedway Championships that were raced to a conclusion last weekend.

Holder had ridden superbly in round three to take first place overall on the night, but, going into the final round of the championship at Gillman in South Australia, Rohan Tungate and Brady Kurtz were tied for top spot with 45 points. The pair were still all square after the heats – both riding to 14 point hauls – which meant the destiny of the overall championship would be decided in the A-Final.

Jack Holder was also involved in the A-Final and it was he who rode to success. Tulgate finished second to claim the overall title and a fourth place finish for Kurtz meant that, in the final standings, Tungate took the overall title by a margin of two points from Kurtz.

After winning the final two meetings of the championship, Jack Holder said: “It’s a good feeling winning two on the bounce, but I was probably a bit unlucky after the first round where I probably let my nerves get the better of me. It probably cost me a placing, but it was good to win at both Mildura and Gillman.”

Another Rebels’ rider, Bradley Wislon-Dean, retained his New Zealand Championship title with victoy in last weekend’s meeting at Moore Park, Christchurch. Wilson-Dean took top place ahead of Andrew Aldridge and new Plymouth Devils signing Ryan Terry-Daley.
