Archant

In excellent golfing weather with fairways running long and greens fast and consistent, over 60 Juniors, from various parts of the South West, assembled at the Lyme Club to contest for honours in the Junior open competition, writes Steve Percival.

Run as a medal competition for each of the boys divisions and with a separate girls event scores were impressive to say the least.

Whilst the winners in each of the competitions were visitors to the club the Lyme competitors acquitted themselves well on their home course.

In particular Sophie Keech, achieved the lowest gross score of the day with an excellent 73, as a result Sophie now travels to Scotland to captain the English schools team with a new handicap of 0.3 to play off scratch.

George Yorke(10) in division one carded an impressive net 70. In division 2 Brad Burraston (22) recorded a net 68 to achieve a reduction in his handicap to 15.5.
