South West qualifying times earned

Chardstock and District Swimming Club members Beckie Rutherford, Jack Fish, Saskia Osborne, Rebecca Bennett, Chris Harrison, Emily Wilson, Lucy Down, and Luke Lawrence were eight swimmers in the older age group who have recently obtained South West Counties Qualifying times.

Beckie Rutherford, Jack Fish, Saskia Osborne, Rebecca Bennett , Chris Harrison, Emily Wilson, Lucy Down, and Luke Lawrence were eight swimmers in the older age group who have recently obtained South West Counties Qualifying times. This enabled them to compete in the ASA South West Regional Youth Championships, at Millfield Pool, Street. A special mention goes to Rebecca Bennett, 16 , who qualified for the 200m Women's breaststroke final with a time of 2 :58:43 and improved her time to 2:57.16, finishing in eighth position. Saskia Osborne, 16, qualified for the 50m Women's Backstroke event with a time of 34:84 . Also Luke Lawrence, 19, qualified for the Men's 100m Freestyle final with a time of 54 :34 finishing sixth in 54: 41. In the Men's 200m Freestyle he qualified for the final with a time of 1:58:80 and achieved seventh with 2:01:52.All of the above representatives from Chard and District swam well, even though the competition was tough!l Eight local swimmers representing Chard and District Swimming Club travelled to Swindon for the Tiger Sharks' meet. They applied both commitment and determination to achieve a well earned set of results.There was a total of 10 South West Counties qualifying times achieved and special credit is given to the following swimmers:Luke Van Den Barselaar - 100m Freestyle: 1:03.58, 200m Freestyle: 2:16.74 , 200m Backstroke: 2:33.49, 400m Individual Medley : 5:35.84 , Jamie Pullinger - 200m Freestyle: 2:41.67, 400m Freestyle: 5:38.55 200m Backstroke: 2:58.04 , 200m Individual Medley: 3:07.90, and Jake Hallam - 100m Butterfly : 1:08.39, 200m Butterfly: 2:38.95.Hannah Pullinger, Paul and Lauren Harrison were commended for their efforts as they were close to qualifying for South West Counties times.New club records were awarded to the following: Luke Van Den Barselaar for the 14 and under and open age group in the 400m Individual Medley event 5-38-84 and Jamie Pullinger, who improved on a previous time, to secure the 10 and under club record for the 400m Freestyle 5-38-55.Congratulations go to Jake Hallam, his time of 1:08:39 in the 100m Butterfly event was deemed 'too fast' and he had to forfeit his gold medal for a 'speeding ticket'. Jake Hallam (1) 100m Butterfly, 200m Individual Medley (2) 100m Breaststroke, 200m Butterfly (7) 100m Backstroke.Girls - 10 years: Elsie Emery (1) 200m Freestyle (2) 200m Breaststroke (9) 100m Breaststroke.12 years: Lauren Harrison (1) 400m Individual Medley (2) 100m Freestyle (3) 50m Freestyle, 200m Freestyle, 400m Freestyle (4) 100m Backstroke, Abigail Dare (2) 100m Backstroke (3) 200m Breaststroke (4) 100m Breaststroke, and 13 years: Hannah Pullinger (4) 100m Freestyle, 100m Breaststroke, 100m Backstroke.
