Lyme Regis golfer Southcombe rounds off a very special year

In the Lyme Regis December stableford tales of what might have been, greeted the early leader board, writes Richard Jackman.

However, in the end it was Tim Vincent with 39 points who emerged as the clear winner in Division 1 with Richard Yorke, 37 pushing Jon Ebdon into third place with his 36 points.

Division Two saw a tight contest eventually won with 37 points by John Cleal. Simon Leech and Alasdair Maclean both tied on 36 points, but it was Leech who edged the verdict after countback.

The ladies greensome stableford was closely contested but in the end Jenny Scott and Susan Moore triumphed with 40 points.

Jane Dixon and Rosie Jackman came second with 38 points from Jane Southcombe and Jane Andrews with 36 points. It has been quite a year for Suthcombe as she completed her twoyears as Dorset Ladies County Golf Association captain. She also won the Bertram Bisgood silver player cup for the best nett score at the Spring and Autumn meeting, and the Edward Arkell silver player cup for the best gross score at the Spring and Autumn meeting.
