Seaton Kart racer, Ellis Bee, 15, has had a welcome boost to his racing budget after gaining sponsorship from a local businessman in time for the South West Championships.

Andy Northwood, owner of RPM Motors, having heard that the Axe Valley Community College student was looking for support took time out to go and watch Ellis race in the July round of the Dunkeswell Kart Racing Club championship.

Despite some extremely bad luck in the first two heats, Andy was impressed with what he saw, especially Ellis's attitude when dealing with the setbacks that happen in racing.

The support on offer isn't just financial either. With a wealth of experience and contacts in the automotive industry, Andy's involvement has already benefited Ellis.

He said: "I bent an axle and badly damaged my kart's race seat in the first two heats and it looked as if it was going to be a costly weekend.

"However, thanks to Andy, we managed to get my seat fully repaired in days and he is getting my axle straightened, so it has saved us a lot of cash."

Ellis would like to thank Andy Northwood at RPM Motors and Chris Rundle of CR Designs in Exmouth for the stickers.
