In spite of the fact that all temporary greens were in use, the Honiton seniors scored well in their greensome competition, writes Andy Wagner.

Stan Squire and Bill Phillips won the first competition of 2014 with 44 points with Ron Graham and Tom Tunnicliffe runners-up with 43.

Max Pipe and Paul Ritchie made 42 while Peter Shepherd and John Discombe on 41 beat Eric Short and Chris Street on countback.

There was not a single two to be seen and the ball prizes were determined by the captain, Bill Eaton, drawing scorecards from the pack.
