“Roll up, roll up - everyone a winner”, is the cry of the fairground stall holder - much like the pre-Christmas Tuesday Mixed at Honiton – a ‘bring and win greensome stableford’ with everyone a winner, writes Andy Wagner.

Fourty-two members played and the best score of 39 points was from Su and Den Calver - with Su putting everything in sight.

The next best score, after countback had been called into play, was 36 points carded by Janet Hughes and Bob Barnes who edged Lesley Farley and John Northover (also 36) into third. Fourth were Elizabeth and John Ward with 35 points.

Then all other competitors selected their prize in points scored order. The prize table looked very festive; chocolates, biscuits, wine etc. There was also plenty of colour from the various sweaters, hats and Christmas ties on show!

Jennifer and Richard Pyle checked the cards and announced the scores. They thanked all the members who had organised the competitions each month during the past year and then thanked Andrea Squire for writing the press reports each week and presented her with an Amaryllis.

Club captain Ron Graham then gave a vote of thanks to Jennifer and Richard, bar staff and catering and then wished all members a Happy Christmas and all best wishes for the New Year.
