SEATON Under-13s were worthy runners-up when they contested the 2011 County Sports Finals day last weekend.

The Seaton youngsters were drawn against a powerful Thorverton outfit in the first of the day’s two semi-finals and they restricted the Mid Devon side to 97 from their allotted 20 overs and then sailed home with overs, and wickets, to spare.

With Exeter pipping Ottery St Mary in the other semi-final it meant Seaton taking on the County Ground youngsters who had done so well in the national Under-13s competition this season.

Exeter batted first in the final and got off to a flyer but some excellent spin bowling hauled Seaton back into the contest with Exeter closing on 110.

Seaton, fielding a number of youngsters age qualified for a year below the under-13s, battled bravely but their turn with the bat ended with a total of 84 on the board and so they had to settle for being very worthy runners-up.
